The current Sultan and Yang-Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah, is the 29th Sultan and is the first Prime Minister of Brunei. Born on July 15, 1946, he succeeded to the throne after his father was abdicated in 1967.
